Friends Of Frogs
Supporting Guajome Park Academy
Friends of Frogs is Guajome Park Academy’s parent volunteer organization, similar to
a PTA or PTO at other schools, but unique because GPA is a charter school. As GPA
Stakeholders, you are all members of Friends of Frogs and we heartily encourage your
active participation. There are no dues or membership fees. Friends of Frogs meets
on the 3rd Thursday of each month, at 6:30 PM, on the Santa Fe Campus. While you
do not have to attend our meetings to be an active parent volunteer, we urge you to join
in and have a share in the give-and-take of information, ideas and support.
When we enrolled our students at Guajome Park Academy we signed an agreement
that asked each family to make a commitment of 30 hours of service per school year,
or to provide an equivalent in donations or cash (1 hour = $10). This commitment
provides us with a wonderful opportunity to really participate in the school that we have
chosen for our child. We are truly privileged to be partners in the success of the school
and therefore in our own children’s success.
Friends of Frogs assists and supports students, parents, teachers and staff at GPA.
Some of the things we help with include special school events, parent seminars,
supporting students with their fundraising activities, facilitating school
communications via Parent email lists, flyers, and general fundraising and parent
volunteer coordination. Our goal is to connect all GPA families to volunteer
opportunities, as well as to serve as a communications link between Stakeholders.
The Core Committee of the Friends of Frogs includes all the Officers within this group
as well as House Parents & a Teacher & Student Representative. The Core
Committee communicates with each other regularly and serves to keep information
flowing between parents, teachers, staff and GPA’s governing bodies (the House
Councils, Student Council and Board of Directors).
